Want to know why I observe the Sabbath? And why you should too? Then continue reading….
So why do I observe the Sabbath?
“Because God said soo…”
Well thank you for stopping by…lol just kidding come back…even though that is enough reason in and of itself.
Let’s first understand what is the Sabbath before we go into why we all should observe it.
*Disclaimer*
I DO NOT KEEP THE SABBATH TO BE SAVED BUT RATHER I KEEP THE SABBATH BECAUSE I AM SAVED.
So what day is the Sabbath? Let’s see what the Bible says about it..
Exodus 20:10,11( But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The Bible is very clear that the Sabbath is the 7th day of the week.
Many spiritual people worship Jesus on the first day of the week (Sunday), they believe the Sabbath was meant for the Jews only.
But is that true?
Let’s look at the book of Genesis. In Genesis 2:1,2 ( Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
God establishes the Sabbath as a memorial of creation. There were no Jews at the beginning of the world. He chose a day to remind HUMANITY that He is both the sustainer and our Creator.
Quote
“ As Creator of the universe, the Lord exercises ownership of each day. But there is only one day that He claims to be blessed and sanctified as His special day of the week—the seventh day (Saturday)Sabbath.
How do we know the 7th day is what we call Saturday?
The Jews today still worship on Saturday.
Did an entire nation forget which is the correct day?
Astronomers who study the changes of the calendar affirm that though there have been many changes to the calendar those changes have not affected the weekly cycle.
Jesus was our perfect example: it says in Luke 4:16 ..and as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day”
Jesus in fact rested on the Sabbath even in death. He was in the tomb from Friday to Saturday and rose on the first day of the week.
Now do me a favor get a dictionary and look up the word “Sunday”. Pause the video and i’ll wait….
So did you find it? Indeed it says that Sunday is the first day of the week.
Now if you do the same search for the word Saturday you find that it says that it is the 7th day of the week.
